Dee Brown (@ltcooldee), the head of Beenox studios in Quebec (the makers of the excellent Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and the not so excellent Spider-Man: Edge of Time), has revealed the first ever concept images for the video games adaptation of summer 2012′s reboot The Amazing Spider-Man.

The three pictures appear to be shots of Oscorp Industries, Spider-Man kicking some butt in a subway (or factory?), and finally what appears to be Peter Parker’s apartment.

According to Dee Brown’s Twitter page, an official trailer for the came should be coming sometime in the near future and, with the Columbia Pictures film set to be released on July 2nd, 2012, we also have an idea of when to expect the full game to hit shelves.

Some have called Iron Man’s Demon In A Bottle arc to be his best (and most important), and it is undoubtedly one of Tony Stark’s most human and tragic moments in his almost five decade existence. Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 touched on Stark’s alcoholism…but in a much lighter tone, really missing – in my mind – an excellent opportunity for glory. Shane Black, the director of Iron Man 3 (due to start shooting next year), says that the next film will be leaving Stark’s alcoholism behind completely.

Black sat down with the great people at Comic Book Resources during the Long Beach Comic Con for a discussion about both his career and the upcoming sequel. Here’s what he had to say about Iron Man 3 and “Demon In A Bottle”:

CBR: When talking about “Iron Man,” you’ve mentioned “Demon In A Bottle” a couple of times — is that sort of darker tone something that you want to play with in the movie?

Black: No, because if we go there — it’s part of Tony’s character, but I think the “Demon In A Bottle” aspect, if you go there, you really have to go there. The film then becomes about that, because the journey that involves recovering from alcoholism is an entire movie. I mean, I want to keep it dark and interesting and edgy and spicy and all those things, but I don’t think we want to go as far as to deal with Tony’s descent into alcoholic madness. That’s maybe not where we want to be.

And for those who haven’t read the “Demon In A Bottle” arc, pick it up at your local comic store now!

Yahoo Movies has released the brand new Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol trailer and holy smokes is it pretty wild. The video starts with a short introduction by the film’s director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) and then proceeds to reveal brand new footage and plot points (the trailer is still abstract enough to not spoil anything too serious). As any readers of POA know, I am a big Tom Cruise fan, and well this movie legitimately looks like it will be the best of the series.

Without further ado, the new Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol trailer:

A behind the scenes look at Tom Cruise’s much anticipated stunt that has him jumping off the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the World) was also released yesterday and can be seen below:

iTunes Movie Trailers has released the second trailer for Martin Scorcese’s 3D film Hugo, an adaptation of Brian Selznick’s 2007 historical-fiction book The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Selznick’s book is interesting in that it relies equally on imagery and writing (284 pictures between 533 pages). This was likely one of the reasons Scorcese bought the rights to the book in 2007.

Scorcese screened an unfinished cut of the film at the New York Film Festival (an incredibly rare occurrence), and the audience reactions were reportedly quite positive.

Here is the official synopsis of the film:

Throughout his extraordinary career, Academy Award-wining director Martin Scorsese has brought his unique vision and dazzling gifts to life in a series of unforgettable films. This holiday season the legendary storyteller invites you to join him on a thrilling journey to a magical world with his first-ever 3-D film, based on Brian Selznick’s award-winning, imaginative New York Times best-seller, “The Invention of Hugo Cabret.” HUGO is the astonishing adventure of a wily and resourceful boy whose quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father will transform Hugo and all those around him, and reveal a safe and loving place he can call home.

Hugo is set for release in 3D and 2D theaters on November 23.

Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has finally given the green light on the long in development live-action remake of the anime classic Akira. The film has been given the go-ahead with an unconfirmed budget (the budget was 90 million back in July when Warners initially hired Collet-Serra, no word on whether this number is still in play) and Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown) directing.

According to Variety both Warner Bros. and Collet-Serra want Tron: Legacy lead Garrett Hedlund to star in the film.

Originally released as a serialized manga in 1982, Akira the anime is a cyber punk science fiction film that was released in 1988 and is considered by many to be the greatest representative of the anime art form.

Set for release in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D theaters on Dec. 21, The Adventures of Tintin is being produced by Peter Jackson, with plans for Spielberg to produce and Jackson to direct the film’s sequel. Here is the official synopsis:

Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures Present a 3D Motion Capture Film “The Adventures of Tintin” directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright & Joe Cornish. Starring Jamie Bell (“Billy Elliot,” “Defiance”) as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig (“Quantum of Solace,” “Defiance”) as the nefarious Red Rackham.

The Adventures of Tintin first appeared in 1929 and was created by the Belgian artist Georges Rémi, who wrote under the pen name of Hergé.

I really enjoyed the Tintin cartoons as a child and the talent behind the new film are among the greatest storytellers of the last century, this will be a must see film for the holidays.

If you haven’t seen it already, Marvel Studios has released the first official trailer for writer/director Joss Whedon’s The Avengers starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson, as the heroes and villains you have come to know and love. Check it out below:

I’m not one to over analyze trailers, but it looks as though we can expect a massive battle in what I believe is New York City, along with endless amounts of witty banter between the eclectic personalities within the group. The film is set for a May 4th, 2012 release and it’s going to be wild. Here is the official synopsis of the movie:

Marvel Studios presents in association with Paramount Pictures “Marvel’s The Avengers”–the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.

The Hollywood Reporter has mentioned in an analysis of Tom Cruise’s career that Warner Bros. is now in talks with him to star in We Are Mortals, the film formerly (and badassly) titled All You Need Is Kill to be directed by Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity). This comes as interesting news considering just a month ago it was reported by Vulture that Brad Pitt was being courted for the role.

Here is the official synopsis of the Hiroshi Sakurazak penned manga,

L to R (Western Style). There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again… When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?

For anyone interested, here is The Hollywood Reporter’s insightful article on Tom Cruise’s career titled, Why Tom Cruise Still Matters.
