‘Arkham City’ Soars (and Glides) To 4.6M Units Shipped

Remember just over a week ago when you didn’t have any new Batman games to play and then, suddenly, you did… and it was awesome? Well, you’re not alone. According to a press release by Warner Bros. this morning, there are about 4.6 million copies of the game that have been shipped in just seven days. Rightfully so, Arkham City is an incredible accomplishment in gaming and merits a playthrough, in my opinion, by both longtime Bat-fans and newcomers alike.

While 4.6M only represents the number of units shipped to retailers and not final sales, it’s a pretty good sign that the game is certainly performing better than expected, not to mention Warner Bros. has already stated that these first week sales are more than double those of Arkham Asylum. With scores like 95/100 (360) and 96/100 (PS3) on Metacritic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the game is already a strong contender for Game of the Year and going into the holiday season will only continue to impress.

If you’ve had a chance to play the game already, let us know what you thought of it by tossing us a comment below and if you haven’t had a chance to visit Arkham City yet… what the heck are you waiting for?!
