TGS 2011: Fighting Game Roundup
With more fighting game news, previews, trailers, and announcements than you can shake a stick at – TGS is (as expected) a fighting game aficionado’s paradise this year.
Street Fighter x Tekken
- We get our first glance at the “Pandora” system, which allows you to sacrifice your 2nd player in favor of giving your remaining character enhanced damage/etc.
- “Scramble Mode”, “Dual Battles”, and “Briefing”; all designed to push the multiplayer experience and enhance teamwork. Scramble mode definitely looks like a blast, albeit a little insane.
- First looks at Rolento, Ibuki, Lili, Heihachi, and Zangief.
- Announcement that a PS Vita version is in development!
Dead or Alive 5
- Little more than an announcement, but at least it’s back. Pre-alpha gameplay shown.
- Team Nina has categorized their upcoming game as “Fighting Entertainment”… we can only assume this means more cleavage, more one-handed controls, and a simpler learning curve?
- Valhalla Studios’ Itagaki Tomonobu (whom left Team Ninja on bad terms, back in 2008) will not be the tied to this rendition of Dead or Alive. This could spell disaster, or miracle, for Team Ninja’s endeavor.
Ultimate MvC3
- Vergil & Iron Fist gameplay. Was that a 1-inch-punch, Iron Fist?!
- PS Vita version also in development!
