PANELS OF THE WEEK: Aug. 30th – Sept. 3rd
As many of you are clearly aware, Fan Expo was last week which left almost no time to get anything done around here as it relates to our weekly articles. Simply put: there was no Panels of the Week last week. We’re making it up to you this week by… actually posting one. Sure, it’s a bit of a slower week but there was still plenty of comic news and highlights to be had so let’s get to it!
Be advised that some of this week’s highlights may contain spoilers.
- At the Baltimore Comic Con last weekend, DC made the official announcement that Batman Beyond would become an ongoing series once the current mini wraps up. Still up in the air is the start date of the new run and just who they’ve got lined up to write the thing. (image 1).
- Artist Jock (Losers, Judge Dredd) may have spilled the beans on the fate of Matt Murdock in the post-Shadowland world as he Tweeted his finished cover for Daredevil: Reborn #1 (image 2) …and then quickly took it down.
- Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, which arrives in a video game store near you next Tuesday, is Activision’s latest attempt to create an entertaining Spider-Man (image 3) game by having you take on the role of one of the four different Spider…men each from their separate world. Why the heck don’t they just repackage Spider-Man 2 and resell that? [more]
- While it’s been a pretty disappointing read overall, Shadowland has certainly had it’s fair share of highlights including a shot of Punisher (from this week’s Shadowland #3) showing some of Daredevil’s henchmen that you probably shouldn’t take your eyes off the dude with the automatic weapon. (image 4)
- The current whereabouts of Scarlet Witch seem to known at last. Here’s a couple hints for you: She’s being held presumably against her will and her captor’s name rhymes with Broom. (image 5) On a side note, does this mean that Hawkeye had sex with a robot?
- Scarlet’s mission against the corruption of the world takes another turn for the violent as she takes down someone from her past and, metaphorically speaking, wins the lottery by doing so! (image 6)
- I would have preferred to just include the first half-dozen pages of the first issue of Taskmaster (Pick of the Week) as a highlight this week but I figure that might be going a little overboard. Needless to say, the issue is piled high with funny panels (image 7) filled with jokes, great character interaction and more over-the-top action than you can shake a stick at.
That does it for this week. Have a great weekend, internet!
Panels of the Week is a look back at the week that was in and around the world of comic books featuring news, highlights and announcements. If you have a tip for us, submit it for a future post!
