Rapid-Fire Reviews: September 2nd, 2010

With Fan Expo having taken place last week, many were left without their weekly dose of Rapid-Fire Reviews but worry not! We’ve got you covered this week with a handful of books from DC, Marvel and Image including a somewhat surprising Pick of the Week. You’ll have to read on to find out what it is so let’s get to the reviews!

Avengers: The Childrens Crusade #2
Another solid issue of Childrens Crusade by Heinberg and Cheung with great dialogue, art and a huge cliffhanger for the next issue. #

Shadowland #3
The main Shadowland book continues to disappoint both in the writing, which seems choppy & pieced together, and the art, which feels rushed.

Nancy in Hell #2
Nancy in Hell 2 might be a tad religious for some but the story continues to be wonderfully original and looks fantastic with Ryp’s art. #

Scarlet #2
Another dark tale of @BRIANMBENDIS & Maleev’s Scarlet unravels more of the character’s world of revenge and revolution. Great read.

Brightest Day #9
Brightest Day once again disappoints. The story feels like it’s moving at a snails pace and has yet to really become a mandatory DC read. #

POA! Pick of the Week:

Taskmaster #1
From start to finish, @fredvanlente and Jefte Palo’s Taskmaster is an action-packed roller coaster of awesome. #

Rapid-Fire Reviews break down the latest comics and trade paperbacks into easy to swallow, bite-sized 140 character (or less) reviews, some of which you can follow on Twitter. If you have a comment or question regarding one of the reviews featured this week, let us know with an email or comment!
