Rapid-Fire Reviews: August 12th, 2010

WRITTEN BY Mike Haynes   Posted on 12 August 2010   Rapid-Fire Reviews

This week may have appeared at first glace to be on the slower side but If you take a look at some of the quality books that headed our way from Marvel & DC, you’d find that quality far outweighs quantity and in this week’s case, it’s absolutely true. I had a tough time nailing down this week’s pick since there were so many worth candidates but with a little work I got it done. To the reviews!

Zatanna #4
@Paul_Dini and artist Chad Hardin keep the momentum rolling in Zatanna 4 with action, comedy, suspense and magic aplenty. #

Invincible Iron Man #29
While Invincible Iron Man #29 is a still a great read, it’s a big reminder than you really need to have followed the book since day one.

Ultimate Avengers 3 #1
I’m not a huge fan of Dillon’s artwork but Ult. Avengers 3 kicks off with a bang (literally) and has plenty to keep people coming back. #

X-Force: Sex & Violence #2
Sex & Violence 2 is one of the most exciting movies I’ve ever read. You heard me. #

Birds of Prey #4
Being the first BoP I’ve followed, I find it hard to understand a lot of the big plot points in the new series. Not so “new reader friendly”.

POA! Pick of the Week:

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #13
Yet another fantastic Ult. Spider-Man by @BRIANMBENDIS and Lafuente. Great writing and wonderfully fun art as Spidey’s world crashes down. #

Rapid-Fire Reviews break down the latest comics and trade paperbacks into easy to swallow, bite-sized 140 character (or less) reviews, some of which you can follow on Twitter. If you have a comment or question regarding one of the reviews featured this week, let us know with an email or comment!
